    Amazing product

Love the bow muscle scraper for those hard-to-reach areas in the hamstrings. Great for full-body recovery. Using it after my hard workouts has been amazing for recovery.

I wish I had bought sooner

The bow is amazing! I use on quads/hamstrings, calves, and lats. It’s such a different tension release from a foam roller… I always feel so much better after using for a few minutes. It’s nice you can use both sides of the bow for added depth as well.

    Best soft tissue tool

I’ve purchased several types of soft tissue tools, this one is by far the best-designed and easiest to use.

My arthritic hands thank you!

I ordered this after researching the best way to heal my hip bursitis. The pain has affected my ability to rest, exercise, or even just walk. When I opened the package I was impressed with the weight and quality of the tool. The book with written and video instructions is valuable. And after years of dog grooming, the handles are a lifesaver for my arthritic hands to be able to use the tool properly. I am looking forward to being pain free!

Expensive slab of curved metal.

Nice kit, definitely screams expensive. Very nice case, adequate towel, lube/spray works. The spray smells like those semi hard crunchable mints.Do not attempt to use without the lube. It hurts. With the lube I honestly do feel it works. I guess its a deep massage to squeegee out any acid buildup in your muscles.I cannot imagine paying $150 (list price at time of review) for a bar of metal, but it does work and holy heck do they beef it up with the kit and some online instructions and a very absurdly nice case. The price is the only reason I knocked a star. I would honestly feel its still pricey at $50. Maybe if you were a professional athlete or masseuse?I mean, if you got money to burn go for it.

A large high-quality gua sha massager with a storage case AND access to Sidekick University classes…

I’ve never seen a stainless gua sha massager, but instead usually seen the jade or quartz versions, much smaller ones. This is definitely going to be an even more durable massage tool than even the stone ones. It’s not going to break if it’s dropped and it will be easy to clean. This tool does glide across the skin quite easily, an excellent sculpting and massage tool. This is a fabulous addition to anyone’s massage routine, especially for those in Crossfit. There are instructions that come with this massager, along with a brief history and a list of purported benefits. YouTube always has a wealth of tutorials to reference, but included is a link to Sidekick University classes. In addition to the gua sha massager, there’s a nice case for storage. Let’s just say I’m quite impressed with everything about this massager. A high-quality gua sha massager, albeit fairly pricey. The addition of the classes, however, makes it worth the investment.

Don’t bow?. Now you Bow.

I was excited to try a product endorsed by Annie Thorisdottir. I’ve followed her on instagram for quite a while.Having just started back up my heavy weight lifting program after a pregnancy, I have lots of soreness to experiment on.This bow is super heavy and could possibly, hopefully, last a lifetime. That is something to consider because it is pricey. With the included emollient the bow feel amazing! But many areas are hard to reach, still many areas are accessible for self massage. It’s still effective without the wintergreen smelling emollient but the emollient is effective and you don’t need too much. The case it comes in is nice and I can fit this in my gym bag which is ideal. It is heavy though and pretty long.Using the tool on my partner’s back, similar to the advertised photos, does cause redness and abrasion that according to some, is a good thing and a sign of healing. Apparently it does not hurt. The bow allows incredible leverage and a powerful massage when used on someone else. This came in three boxes which is at least one box too many.I highly recommend this tool. I see no downsides if you’re willing to make the investment.

Eclipse and Bow are excellent

I own the Eclipse and use it on my forearms and hands. I use it to break up scar tissue and relieve tension. It’s helped me avoid carpal tunnel syndrome and is an excellent product. I recently bought the Bow to work on my legs because the Eclipse is too small for those muscles. The Bow is also excellent and has helped increase circulation, relieve tension and improve muscle performance. I would recommend either of these products.

Great for back and glutes

This tool is nice for accessing the outer parts of the lower back and works really well on the glutes. The one thing I don't like is that compared to the echo it is much narrower. I like the put oil on the tool to take it to my body and it's a lot easier to spill oil off the bow because of the narrow shape.

Solid therapy tool

I have used many IASTM products over my 17year career as a Massage Therapist. This has comfortable handles that help for long days of clients. The treatment edge has a nice medium intensity that isn’t to sharp or too dull for clients comfort and treatment effectiveness. I would recommend this tool for someone looking for a professional quality tool with large treatment area.

Great tool!

This tool makes it so much easier to work on your own legs and lower back. Using it for longer strokes on the quads, hamstrings and calves really seems to help loosen the muscles up for me. I like to follow that up with the Echo for working on specific knots after that.

The Best Tool for Sore Hamstrings

I run marathons and one area that has consistently been an issue is my hamstrings. I’ve always struggled to find a way to release them and have tried deep stretching in the sauna, yoga, foam rolling, Theragun - even Normatec boots. The bow scraper has by far been one of my best investments. I highly recommend it to anyone else who is suffering with tight hamstrings or sore quads. This has been a game changer for this tired runner’s recovery!

Works great and felt some relief after only one use. Looking forward to using this more.

Glad it’s already giving you some relief. The Axisboard gets even better as your feet and ankles adapt to it - keep us posted on how it feels after a few sessions.

2 handed Gua Sha scraping tool goes deep

I've done Gua Sha for 10+years and was challenged with going deep around bigger muscles without wearing myself out. The Bow, definitely goes very deep with a fraction of the typical effort.

Hi!

That’s great to hear! The Bow was designed exactly for that—deeper, more efficient work without the strain. Glad it’s making your Gua Sha sessions easier and more effective!

Best,

Sidekick

Pricy but well made

Holy moly is this Sidekick Bow Muscle Scraper solidly built! It’s basically just a big piece of solid thick metal, so it should easily last a lifetime with proper care. You also can’t really do this to yourself, it really needs to be done by someone else. That’s not a huge deal, but it’s definitely worth mentioning. The case it comes in is also pretty nice and everything fits inside well, so that’s definitely a plus. Overall not bad, though it is pricy for what is.

Well-designed, solidly-built IASTM tool

I'm really impressed with how well built and practical this Bow muscle scraper is. It is solidly constructed and has a high-quality look and feel to it. It is large and hefty but not overly heavy. The handles are comfortable to grip while the arc-shaped body is well-polished and easy to clean. The refined, dual-beveled edges are easy to work with and scrape well. The tool can be used on one's self but much easily with a helper. I used it on my hamstrings and quads, and it worked great. It came with an emollient spray which I applied to lubricate the skin first. The dual edges worked great and helped relieve tension and increase circulation. It did a nice job of relieving the pain and soreness in the muscles as well. This comes with a 2.7 oz. skin protecting emollient spray, a cleaning towel, and a protective zipper case. The emollient spray is formulated with all-natural ingredients. The zipper case is a custom-fit case for storage and travel. Pretty easy to carry to the gym and use after an intensive workout. All in all, this is an excellent IASTM tool for big muscles such as hamstrings, quads, etc. The accessories in the kit are handy as well. It works great for me so far. Easy to use and to clean. However, it is pretty pricey but nevertheless a good investment for long-term use. If you're looking for a well-designed, solidly-built IASTM tool, this is worth a consideration. Great product.

Stainless Steel Gua Sha for big muscle groups

IT Band & Quad/Hamstring are one of our largest muscle group and one of the hardest to stretch and relieve from aches. This sidebow muscle scrapper does the trick perfectly. The handles allow you to apply as much pressure as needed.I have other small gua sha tools for face but never had such a big one for a different muscle group so it was an interesting experience. Highly recommend if you are a gua sha fan.

Would I be able to reach around myself to use this tool on my own back and glutes? Would one of the other tools be better suited?

Sidekick Sidekick

Thanks for your question!

Yes! The Bow is designed so that the user can self-treat these areas. Check out the Learning Lab on our website for videos showing how to use the Bow on larger areas of the body like legs and back.

Questions? We got you.

  • How do I know if Sidekick will work for me?

If you're dealing with a chronic injury, muscle pain, or tightness, Sidekick is a great option for you. In fact, a clinical study showed that 94% of injured users feel pain relief, so there's a good chance you will too! If the tool doesn't meet your expectations, we have a 60-day money-back guarantee.

  • Isn't this just Gua Sha?

Exactly! The techniques we promote with our tools are based on 2000-year-old Chinese practices. We took that technique and built the world's best tools to apply it.

The technique of muscle scraping (also known as Gua Sha or IASTM) is one that is backed by science and peer-reviewed clinical research.

  • Will it make my injury worse?

Using a muscle scraping tool correctly generally won't worsen an injury. As you are in control of the treatment, you have full control of the pressure. Sidekick's edge and weight is specifically designed to safely treat injuries, unlike cheaper tools and butter knives that can do more harm than good.

  • Why is Sidekick better than a butter knife?

Effectiveness, safety, and comfort. Sidekick is designed for therapeutic use. Unlike a butter knife, which has a flat, blunt edge that may cause more damage or skin irritation, Sidekick has a dual-beveled edge that targets tissues effectively without damaging your skin or muscles. The tool's weight and specific curvatures also allows for much better control compared to using a butter knife.

  • Is it painful?

No. Sidekick is designed to feel good on the body and you are totally in control of the pressure. Unlike cheaper alternatives, the edge is not too sharp that it will cause pain. When working through areas that are particularly tight, many describe it as a 'good pain' that feels like it's effectively addressing the problem area.

  • What kind of benefits can I expect?
    • Speeding up injury recovery, particularly when in conjunction with strengthening program. In a clinical study with plantar fasciitis sufferers, 94% of users felt less pain after using Sidekick for 3 days.
    • Reduced muscle pain
    • Increased blood circulation
    • Injury prevention
    • Enhanced athletic performance
  • How do I use it?

For detailed instructions, check out our Learn Lab. Sidekick is a beginner-friendly tool, so it's really easy to use without hurting yourself. After applying emollient to your skin, use your Sidekick tool to apply moderate pressure to the targeted area. Use a mix of long strokes and short strokes, in any direction, to massage the muscle effectively. Repeat on all the surrounding muscles.
