"The Sidekick muscle scraper has been a game-changer for me."
INTERVIEW
How did you first come across the Sidekick, and what prompted you to start using it?
I started using the Sidekick Tool a couple of years ago because I was looking for a way to keep my body feeling good between massage appointments. I was introduced to the concept of scraping and began incorporating it into my routine. It quickly became an essential part of my training, especially leading up to the Chicago Marathon in 2022.

How does the Sidekick fit into your daily training regimen?
When I'm marathon training, I tend to get pretty stiff. I use the Sidekick muscle scraper before my runs to warm up my muscles and after runs to break through any tension. It's become a critical part of my daily routine.

Can you explain the benefits you've noticed from using the scraping tool?
Scraping has been incredibly beneficial in managing overuse injuries. It helps warm up my body before runs, so I don't start stiff, which can lead to injury. Post-run, it helps alleviate tension and promotes recovery.

Why do you prefer scraping over other recovery tools like foam rollers?
Foam rolling can be a bit static and cumbersome, especially for the lower body. Scraping allows me to target specific areas and get them moving well before a run. It's much more effective for my needs.

How has using Sidekick impacted your overall training performance?
I've noticed a significant difference in the quality of my runs. Starting off feeling good and moving better has a positive impact up and down the chain of my body. It's one of the biggest benefits I've experienced.

What does a typical training week look like for you, and how does Sidekick fit into it?
A typical training week for me is about 110 to 115 miles. I use the Sidekick muscle scraper every day, especially after workout days or long runs when I tend to feel stiffer. It helps me manage the tension and maintain flexibility.

Can you share a specific example of how the Sidekick tool helped with an injury or discomfort?
Last year, I had some issues with my lower leg. Using the scraper on my calf before runs really helped manage the problem. I've also found it beneficial for my quads and hamstrings, keeping them loose and warmed up.

How quickly can you see or feel the results from using Sidekick?
The results are almost immediate. It only takes a minute or two to scrape through and warm up my legs. I can feel the difference in the quality of my runs right away.

Why do you think managing tension is crucial for injury prevention?
Managing tension is one of the most important parts of staying healthy as an athlete. Starting my runs with loose, warmed-up muscles helps prevent injuries and ensures I'm moving well.

How does the portability of Sidekick benefit your training and travel?
The Sidekick is small and lightweight, making it easy to pack in my backpack or suitcase. This portability means I can take it with me to any workout or when traveling, ensuring I always have it on hand.

How does the Sidekick compare in cost to other recovery options?
It's quite cost-effective. It costs about the same as one massage session but provides ongoing benefits between appointments, keeping my body healthy and moving well.

What is your pre-run routine with the Sidekick tool?
Before I run, I use the Sidekick muscle scraper to warm up specific areas, particularly my lower legs. This helps me start my run feeling good and moving better.

What is your post-run routine with the Sidekick tool?
After my run, I use the scraper to break through any tension and promote recovery. This routine helps me stay flexible and reduces the risk of injury.

How has the Sidekick tool influenced your approach to training and recovery?
It has made me more proactive in managing my body's needs. I'm more attentive to warming up properly and addressing tension immediately, which has improved my overall training and recovery process.

Would you recommend Sidekick to other athletes, and why?
Absolutely. The Sidekick muscle scraper has been a game-changer for me. It's easy to use, highly effective, and fits seamlessly into my routine. I think it can benefit any athlete looking to improve their performance and recovery.
