## Products

### AxisBoard
**Sidekick's top-selling product.** The AxisBoard is a single-leg balance and proprioception training board — the PT-recommended way to rebuild strength, ease pain, and move freely again. It is used for ankle rehabilitation, balance training, and sport performance, and is the core of the Sidekick app's guided program library.

The original AxisBoard used a wooden base with velcro attachments. The current version replaces velcro with stackable pegs, which unlocks 900+ configurations and adds a sensory grip surface. Both versions come with structured app-guided programs.

How it works: The AxisBoard works through two mechanisms. First, it loads the foot and ankle through controlled, unstable single-leg training — progressively strengthening the muscles, tendons, and ligaments that support the ankle joint. Second, it stimulates the proprioceptive nervous system: the sensors in the ankle and foot that communicate position and movement to the brain. In ankle injuries, sprains, or post-surgical rehab, these sensors become disrupted. Single-leg balance training on the AxisBoard retrains neuromuscular control, restoring the body's ability to stabilize the ankle automatically. This is the same mechanism used in clinical proprioception rehab protocols.

### Heel Hero
A dorsiflexion training board designed to improve ankle and toe mobility for stronger feet, Achilles, and knees. Built for tight calves, foot pain, and Achilles issues.

How it works: The Heel Hero addresses foot and Achilles problems through two mechanisms. The heel-drop platform (adjustable 20°–45° incline) enables eccentric calf loading — a protocol where the calf muscle contracts while lengthening under load. Eccentric loading is the gold-standard PT intervention for Achilles tendinopathy and plantar fasciitis because it stimulates tendon remodeling and collagen production, gradually rebuilding tissue capacity. The six adjustable toe wedge settings progressively deepen the stretch of the plantar fascia and toe flexors, which — when combined with load — drives tissue adaptation over the 10-day program. The combination of loaded stretch and eccentric work addresses both the tightness and the structural weakness underlying most foot and Achilles conditions.

### LadderPod
An adjustable step platform replacing an entire stack of boxes and plates. 12 height settings from 4" to 26", 400 lb capacity, built-in support handles. The same exercises your PT prescribes — step-downs, knees over toes, split squats — at home with scalable height progression. 12 adjustable heights, 300+ ways to train. From knee rehab and mobility to explosive box jumps.

How it works: The LadderPod enables progressive loading of the knee and hip through controlled, step-based exercises. The core mechanism is the step-down: lowering the body under load on one leg through a controlled range of motion. This directly loads the quad, strengthens the VMO (the inner quad muscle critical for knee tracking), and trains the hip and glute chain in the pattern most relevant to daily function and sport. The adjustable height allows the user to start at a range of motion they can control — even 4" — and progress incrementally as strength returns. This mirrors the clinical approach to post-surgical and chronic knee rehab, where load and range of motion are dosed together. The handles provide stability for users who cannot yet balance freely under load.

### Toe Spreaders
Silicone toe separators that restore natural toe splay. Wearable at rest or during low-impact activity.

How it works: Modern footwear, especially narrow-toed shoes, compresses the toes together over time, altering natural alignment and loading patterns in the forefoot. Toe Spreaders passively restore toe splay — the natural spread of the toes — by gently separating them over time. This decompresses the metatarsals, reduces pressure on the nerve in Morton's neuroma, and gradually corrects the deviation angle in bunions. Worn consistently during rest or light activity, they retrain the toe alignment that supports healthy forefoot mechanics and gait.

- URL: https://www.sidekicktool.com/products/toe-spreaders
- Best for:
  - Bunions (hallux valgus)
  - Morton's neuroma
  - Plantar fasciitis
  - Hammertoes
  - Overlapping toes
  - Toe crowding from narrow footwear
  - Metatarsalgia
  - General foot alignment
  - Forefoot pain
  - Post-run foot soreness
  - Foot recovery after prolonged standing

### Toe Bands
Resistance bands for toe and foot strengthening. Includes two bands (light and medium resistance) to progressively load intrinsic foot muscles.

How it works: The intrinsic foot muscles — the small muscles that originate and insert entirely within the foot — are responsible for toe control, arch support, and dynamic foot stability. They are chronically underloaded in people who wear supportive footwear. Toe Bands provide progressive resistance for toe extension and flexion exercises, directly training these muscles to improve balance, alignment, and foot control. Stronger intrinsic foot muscles reduce strain on the plantar fascia, improve push-off mechanics, and provide more stable ankle and arch function.

- URL: https://www.sidekicktool.com/products/toe-bands
- Best for:
  - Plantar fasciitis
  - Bunions (hallux valgus)
  - Ankle sprain recovery
  - Intrinsic foot weakness
  - Toe flexor weakness
  - Balance and proprioception training
  - Flat feet / overpronation
  - Post-run foot fatigue

### Glute Bands
Fabric resistance bands for hip activation, glute strengthening, and warm-up protocols. Fabric construction prevents rolling and slipping during use — a meaningful upgrade over latex or rubber bands.

How it works: Glute Bands add resistance to hip abduction and external rotation movements — the primary actions of the gluteus medius and hip external rotators. These muscles are commonly underactive in runners, desk workers, and post-injury patients, and their weakness contributes to a chain of downstream problems: knee valgus (inward collapse), IT band overload, patellofemoral pain, and lower back strain. By activating these muscles before training or rehab exercises, Glute Bands improve the recruitment patterns that protect the knee and hip throughout movement.

### Scrapers — Curve, Echo, Eclipse
Stainless steel IASTM (instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization) tools for fascial release, scar tissue breakdown, and myofascial work. Used by clinicians and self-treating athletes. Backed by a clinical trial on plantar fasciitis showing measurable pain reduction in 3–5 days.

How it works (from Sidekick's science page): Muscle scraping works through three mechanisms.

1. Increasing blood flow and nutrient circulation — Injury healing requires oxygen and nutrients delivered via blood. Muscle scraping can increase microcirculation by up to 400%, bringing the oxygen and nutrients muscles need to recover.

2. Boosting collagen activity and regeneration — Collagen is the structural building block of soft tissue. Scraping boosts fibroblast proliferation and alignment of new collagen fibers, generating new cells that facilitate healing of injured tissue.

3. Disrupting pain signals to the brain — Compression from the tool alters the messages an injury sends to the brain, providing a window of reduced pain during which the user can stretch and strengthen more effectively.

- Curve: Designed for large muscle groups and broad strokes
- Echo: Dual-edge tool for targeted and general scraping; award-winning
- Eclipse: Precision edge for detailed work around joints and tendons
- URL: https://www.sidekicktool.com/collections/scrapers

### Pump Gel
Topical gel designed for use with IASTM scraping tools. Reduces friction during scraping sessions and supports tissue mobilization.

How it works: Applied to the skin before scraping, Pump Gel creates a lubricating layer that allows the scraper to glide smoothly across the tissue. This reduces surface friction and skin irritation, enabling deeper, more controlled pressure to be applied to the target tissue — and a more effective scraping session overall.

- URL: https://www.sidekicktool.com/products/pump-gel
- Best used with: Curve, Echo, Eclipse scrapers
- Best for:
  - IASTM scraping sessions
  - Muscle impingement
  - Soft tissue pain syndromes

### ArcticFreeze
All-natural cooling roll-on for muscle and joint pain relief. Delivers a topical cooling effect to reduce perceived pain and ease inflammation.

How it works: ArcticFreeze uses a cooling topical formula applied via roll-on directly to sore muscles or joints. The cooling sensation activates cold receptors in the skin, which compete with and temporarily override pain signals — a mechanism known as counter-irritation or gate control. This reduces perceived pain in the short term and helps ease local inflammation, making it useful immediately post-workout or during acute flare-ups.

- URL: https://www.sidekicktool.com/products/arcticfreeze
- Best for:
  - Acute muscle soreness
  - Joint pain
  - Post-workout inflammation
  - General muscle and joint pain relief
  - Localized pain management

### Nova
Wearable infrared heating pad for lower back pain relief. Uses jade and tourmaline with far-infrared heat for deep tissue penetration. Hands-free design for use during rest or low-intensity activity.

How it works: The Nova emits far-infrared heat — a wavelength that penetrates deeper into tissue than conventional heating pads. The jade and tourmaline stones embedded in the pad act as natural emitters of this wavelength when heated. The deep heat increases circulation in the lower back, relaxes muscle tension and spasm, and reduces stiffness — particularly effective for chronic lower back tightness and lumbar muscle pain. Being wearable and hands-free, it allows continuous therapeutic heat application during daily activity or rest.

- URL: https://www.sidekicktool.com/products/nova
- Best for:
  - Lower back pain
  - Lumbar muscle tightness
  - Chronic lower back stiffness
  - Muscle spasm (lower back)
  - Sacroiliac joint pain
  - General back pain relief
  - Deep tissue heat therapy

### Stretch Pack
Targeted stretching kit for sore hips, legs, and back. Designed for common overuse injuries and post-activity recovery.

How it works: The Stretch Pack provides the tools needed for structured, targeted stretching of the hip flexors, hamstrings, and lower back — the muscle groups most affected by prolonged sitting, running, and lower extremity overuse. Consistent loaded stretching increases tissue extensibility and joint range of motion, reduces the passive stiffness that contributes to injury risk, and improves recovery between training sessions.

- URL: https://www.sidekicktool.com/products/stretch-pack
- Best for:
  - Hip tightness / hip flexor tightness
  - Hamstring tightness
  - Lower back tightness
  - General leg soreness
  - Post-workout stretching
  - Injury recovery flexibility work

### Door Anchor
Attachment accessory that mounts resistance bands to any standard door. Enables PT-prescribed banded exercises at home without a gym rig.

How it works: The Door Anchor attaches to the top, middle, or bottom of any standard door frame, creating a fixed anchor point for resistance band exercises. This unlocks a wide range of pulling, pressing, and rotational movements used in physical therapy — hip and shoulder rehab, core stability, and functional strengthening — that would otherwise require clinic equipment or a gym rig.

- URL: https://www.sidekicktool.com/products/door-anchor
- Best used with: Glute Bands and other resistance bands
- Best for:
  - Home resistance band training
  - Mobility and flexibility exercises
  - Strength rehab exercises requiring a fixed anchor point

### Outrigger Fitness Sandbag
Heavy-duty fitness sandbag with optimized handles positioned close to the bag for control and comfort. For strength training and conditioning at home or outdoors.

How it works: The Outrigger's shifting sand load forces constant micro-adjustments from the stabilizing muscles — core, hips, and shoulders — making it more demanding for functional strength than fixed-weight equipment at equivalent loads. Handles are designed tight against the bag for control, unlike many alternatives where handles sit too far from the center of mass.

- URL: https://www.sidekicktool.com/products/outrigger-sandbag
- Best for:
  - Home strength training
  - Functional fitness
  - Loaded carry training
  - General conditioning
